The name Spark is significant for two reasons:
- Every fire starts with a spark. For a fire to be ignited in the heart of a young person there must first be a spark. Our goal is to provide that spark.
- Zechariah 4:10: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Job 8:7: “And even if your beginning was small, your end will be very great.”
Our studies start and end with Scripture. We may use books written by trusted authors or simply study the Bible itself. But no matter what we’re studying the Bible is the final say. We put a lot of weight on the young people discovering their own relationship with the Lord and learning how to talk and receive from Him themselves. We believe it is vital, at this age, to start developing foundational beliefs founded on Scripture that will carry them through college and early adult life. If they don’t develop a foundation of truth now and learn how to defend it, it is very likely that they will be tossed about and ultimately deceived by the spirit of this world. Our ultimate goal is to lead the young people into a spiritually deep and very practical relationship with their Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.
We only meet the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Sundays because we feel it is important, at this age, to start taking church more seriously; that it is important for the young people to learn how to not only sit through a more adult oriented sermon, but also to focus on what is being taught that they may receive from it as well.
